1. Overview
DAB is an advanced, privacy-first meeting assistant designed to capture, transcribe, and analyze professional discussions. Unlike cloud-only tools, DAB leverages local AI processing to ensure your data never leaves your infrastructure.

2. Initial Setup
Before your first meeting, ensure your AI servers are connected in the Settings tab:
- Whisper (STT): Handles voice-to-text. Default port:
9000
- Ollama (LLM): Handles analysis and minutes. Default port:
11434
Pro Tip: Use the "Test Connection" buttons in Settings to verify your servers are reachable before starting a high-stakes meeting.
3. Recording & Meetings
3.1 Launching a Meeting
Paste your Google Meet or Teams link into the Meeting Launcher on the Dashboard. DAB will prepare the virtual mixer and guide you through the audio sharing process.
3.2 Audio Capture (The Mixer)
To record both your voice and the other participants:
- Select Google Meet or System Audio in the recorder.
- Click the microphone icon.
- CRITICAL: In the browser popup, you must check the box labeled "Share tab audio" (Meet) or "Include Sound" (Teams).
Warning: If you forget to check "Share Audio," DAB will only record your microphone, and the meeting minutes will be incomplete.
4. Transcription (AI)
DAB features a High-Reliability Transcription system designed for very long files:
- Auto-Slicing: Large files are automatically cut into 15-minute segments.
- Sequential Processing: Each segment is processed individually to prevent server timeouts (504 errors).
- Progress Tracking: Watch the transcript grow in real-time chunk by chunk.
5. Meeting Minutes
Once transcribing is finished, navigate to the Meeting Minutes tab:
- English Mode: Summarizes the meeting in professional English.
- Bilingual Mode: Preserves technical terms while translating Afrikaans segments into English summaries.
- Action Items: Automatically extracts tasks, owners, and deadlines.
6. Data & Privacy
6.1 History
DAB saves a preview of your last 50 meetings in the History tab.
Note: To save memory, the full text of massive transcripts is only kept in the active session. Use JSON export for permanent storage of long transcripts.
6.2 Branding
Upload your company logo in the Export tab. It will automatically appear on the header of all generated PDF and Word documents.
System Health: If your browser feels slow with a 2-hour file, DAB's "Low-Memory Mode" in Settings will downsample your audio to 16kHz Mono to save RAM.
